Cedlar Lake Gardens and Gifts brings 30 years of experience to you with Walker’s Lawn & Landscaping.  We serve customers in Decatur and all of Central Illinois.  We can do new construction, revitalize your existing landscape, or perform scheduled maintenance for your lawn.  We are certified Allan Block installers.  All trees and shrubs that we install are guaranteed for a year.

History of Cedar Lake Gardens & Gifts

Due to the growing customer base in Decatur, we decided to move from our rural Oakley location into Decatur. In 2003, the property at the corner of Illinois 48 and Mound Road caught our attention, needing a major facelift and the development of a positive atmosphere following its tragic past. We dug in our heels, filled in the vacant pool and transformed it into a serene garden center.

On May 2004, Cedar Lake Gardens & Gifts opened its doors. Named after our property in Oakley, it reflects a peaceful garden atmosphere with a retail center that carries garden and landscaping needs along with gifts and seasonal decor.  In 2008 we caught the attention of Garden Center Magazine and they featured us in their April magazine.  The article can be found by clicking HERE.

History of Walker’s Lawn & Landscaping

As summer neighborhood ball games stir a boy’s imagination of becoming a professional baseball player, I too have realized my dream of turning simple lawn-mowing jobs into a metropolitan lawn and landscape nursery and retail center. The decision to quit a full-time job with benefits at UPS, along with the keeping up with the responsibilities of a family with two small children, was the first major step of this adventure.

We started out in the late 1970s with a mower, trimmer and used pickup truck, and we have grown into four crews of mowers and a landscaping division. As the business grew, so did the family of employees, including my wife Jackie, brother Mike, son Nick, daughter Ashley and dad Lou, along with spouses, cousins and friends. Almost all are Walkers — hence the name Walker’s Lawn and Landscaping.
